A very interesting cap just released recently was this Toros de Tijuana fitted in a very familiar colorway any Padres fan would recognize immediately.
The Toros de Tijuana (Tijuana Bulls) play in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (Mexican Baseball League) and is considered a AAA franchise by Major League Baseball. All teams in the LMB carry this designation and are unaffiliated with any MLB teams. The LMB (not to be confused with the LMP, or the league the Águilas de Mexicali play in) is a 16 team league that plays from March through October with 2 distinct seasons new for the 2018 season: Primavera (Spring) and Otoño (Fall) that both feature their own playoff and championship games. The 16 teams are also split into North and South zones.
The Toros began play in 2004. The team seized their first championship (under the old 114 game format) in 2017. The team features familiar faces for both Águilas and Padres fans: one-time Padre Jorge Cantu plays as an infielder and Oscar Robles (who made his last MLB appearance with the Padres) is manager of the team. Águilas players of note who also suit up for the Toros include RHP Jake Sanchez and C Xorge Carillo. San Diego City College standout Sergio Mitre (current Águilas and former MLB pitcher) was on the championship Toros squad last year.
Navy crown and brim
White and orange TJ logo
White New Era logo
A very familiar colorway, no? While the Toros have never worn this colorway (theirs is black, red, and white) this custom borrows from their neighbors to the north to great effect. There’s something about interlocking logos…
Featured at the rear of the cap is the LMB logo. Quite large compared to other league logos, isn’t it?
The underbrim and sweatband are standard black.

This release was a surprise to find at my local Lids store. You should be able to find it available currently either online or in store as well.
