Minor League Baseball has reached into its archive of amazing logos and teams to put out what they call the “Hometown Collection”, an assembly of caps from teams who no longer exist or have since changed their name or city. Our example today is a piece of Padres minor league history:

The Portland Beavers moniker has been used by various teams and was one of the original teams during the Pacific Coast League’s formation in 1903 (the Beavers name appearing three years later in 1906). Portland remained one of two original PCL charter cities that had a team until 2010, where Jeff Moorad purchased the team and subsequently moved them to Tucson to become the Tucson Padres. With plans to move the team to Escondido falling through the team was sold once again and became the El Paso Chihuahuas in 2014. This version of the Portland logo is one of the most recognizable. The Beavers served as the Padres AAA affiliate from 2001 until 2010 until the subsequent moves and team renaming.
The back of the cap features the MiLB logo in navy and light blue.
The underbrim is standard black alongside the sweatband.
Cap Availability Status: Uncommon
This cap was part of a limited run from MiLB Shop, as were the other caps in the Hometown Collection. Rumor has it that Hat Club may be releasing this particular cap and an alternate sometime in the future.
